关于 音乐剧 Concentration

In 音乐剧, you’ll take classes in acting, 音乐剧风格, 音乐理论, 跳舞, 钢琴, 还有声乐课, giving you a wide range of skills to utilize throughout your career. We encourage you to become a quadruple threat! You’ll develop skills in acting, singing, dancing, 和 behind-the-scenes. Many 音乐剧 students also study production, 设计, 导演, 创意写作, 和教育.

Every year the School of Music 和 Theatre produces four mainstage productions; two plays 和 two musicals. Our goal is that during your four-years of study you will have the opportunity to participate in all the different types of theatrical productions that you will encounter as a professional artist. 最棒的是? You can audition 和 participate in productions as soon as you arrive on campus.

An audition is a required part of the 入学 process for all students planning to major in music 和/or theatre. It also allows the award of music scholarships 和 participation awards for talented non-music majors.

Gundlach剧院
演出场馆

Heidelberg’s Gundlach剧院 is used as a traditional main stage 和 transformed to accommodate a black box style performance. Our performances range from small ensembles to large casts. We also encourage students to perform with local talent 和 professionals at productions at the Ritz Theatre in downtown 吃午饭.

Studying Musical Theater at Heidelberg was the right choice for me because there is just so much to pursue, from acting techniques to music training to 跳舞 和 movement.
